About
Catherine graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1987 with a BA in Public Administration.
She then joined Strathclyde Police in 1987 and was posted to Hamilton in South Lanarkshire. Catherine performed uniform and plain clothes duties prior to being appointed, in 1991, to the Female & Child unit (now Family Protection Unit). Whilst within this unit she investigated child abuse, sexually motivated crimes and vulnerable witnesses working closely with Social Work and other partner agencies.
In 1993 Catherine transferred to the Scottish Crime Squad (now Scottish Crime & Drug Enforcement Agency) as Detective Constable. During her time at the Scottish Crime Squad she was involved in the investigation of high profile crimes and the targeting of prolific criminals. She is a fully trained Level 1 & 2 surveillance officer and has been trained as an undercover operative.
In 1997, at the end of her secondment, she transferred to Coatbridge where she performed uniform and community policing roles. She was also involved in the establishment of the Sex Offenders unit within North Lanarkshire.
In 1998 Catherine was seconded to the Force Spotlight Initiative as Force liaison Officer for ‘Operation HAMELIN’. This was a national operation targeting bogus criminals who preyed on the elderly and vulnerable members of our society. There were numerous successful detections during this period.
Catherine left Strathclyde Police in 2000 to concentrate on raising her family.
In 2010 she started her own business providing training and consultancy to the Public Sector, Scottish Government Agencies and Legal companies.
She has assisted with the delivery of training at over 20 of the Local Authorities and also to Marine Scotland, NHS Counter Fraud Services, Scottish Fire & Rescue, Health & Safety Executive, Office of Rail Regulation, UK Border Agency, Food Standards Agency and Trading Standards.
Catherine is a fully qualified Criminal Paralegal.
